Storytellers and Elders fill an important role in each tribe, passing on to the next generation the customs, beliefs and history of their culture. The stories are the foundation that keeps the family and tribe together. Storytelling today is alive and well and continues to be an important part of Native American culture. In many ways, today's teachers and educators are Storytellers, passing on to the next generation the customs, beliefs, and history of our society. Keep My Fires Burning honors the wisdom of American Indian Elders, Shamans, and Storytellers. These important tribe members perpetuate Native American traditions of healing, song and dance, ceremony, religion and - most importantly - the story of creation.
